In the period 7-15 of August, 2015 year, in Macedonia it was held the Balkan Odonatological Meeting \u2013 BOOM 2015. Round 20 participants from Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany and Macedonia were part of this meeting. This was the fifth gathering of odonatologists that included joint field work, lectures and workshops related with dragonflies. Therefore BOOM was a great opportunity for acquiring knowledge and exchange of experience for dragonflies and damselflies, which is particularly important for the Balkan countries, as well as for the biology\/ecology students. The data gathered through this meetings enriches the knowledge of the odonatan fauna and their distribution on the Balkans.\nIn Macedonia, the field work covered some unexplored areas in Central Macedonia: Kavadarci and Prilep region, Demir Kapia Gorge, Pelagonija and Mariovo. Through the collected data, the presence of some important species with limited distribution was confirmed, as Caliaeshna microstigma and Lindenia tetraphylla that are more specific for the southern part of the country. The Swamp \u2013 Belchishko Blato was one of the target areas for research where there were registered 11 species. The fauna of the dragonflies of Macedonia counts 64 species, which is almost half of the European fauna of this group of animals. During the fifth BOOM in Macedonia, there were registered 43 species.
\nThe Meeting was organized by Macedonian Ecological Society in collaboration with the Biology Student\u2019s Research Society and the Slovenian Odonatological Society.<\/p>\n
