On 11th May at 10 am in Star Dojran a group of high-school students together with Dojran locals will go on a bird-watching excursion to learn about migratory birds and eco-tourism. This event is part of the World Migratory Bird Day celebration \u2013 a campaign that addresses the need for conservation of migratory birds and their habitats. Over 200 public events will be organized this year, ranging from bird festivals to educational programs and excursions.
\nThe topic for this year is \u201cMigratory Birds and Tourism\u201d and it acknowledges the link between migratory bird conservation and development of local eco-tourism. \u201cDojran is recognized as a key biodiversity hotspot and the spectacular movement of migratory birds can attract tourists both locally and internationally. This municipality has great potential for development of eco-tourism which will include bird-watching and bird photography, activities which will be useful for biodiversity, local communities and tourists.\u201d \u2013 Ksenija Putilin, project assistant of the project Education and capacity building for conservation of Lake Dojran.<\/p>\n
The event is organized by the Macedonian Ecological Society in cooperation with the Municipality of Dojran.<\/p>\n
