The aim of the workshop was to present the activities carried out so far, concerning the realization of this project activity, that is, the production of different maps with internationally declared regions (important bird areas, plants and butterflies, areas included in the Ramsar and UNESCO list, the Emerald areas, as well the regions with virgin forests) which will serve for the creation of the representative network for protected areas.<\/p>\n<p>Prof. Dr. Ljupco Melovski from the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Biology Institute, presented analysis of the protected areas and areas suggested for protection according to the Physical plan (Study for Natural Inheritance), the fulfilled activities during the project and the recommendations by experts supported by cartographic projection. According to the analysis, at the moment the network encompasses around 17% of the territory of Macedonia, and what is expected is an increase of the percent after the identification of the ecologically important areas.<\/p>\n<p>Besides this, during the workshop, Prof. Dr.Blagoja Markoski from the Faculty of Natural Sciences, the Biology Institute, presented information concerning the transformation of the land in NP Galichica.<\/p>\n<p>The final version of the map with the representative network of protected areas is expected to be completed by the end of January
